I have been involved with ELT (English Language Teaching) since I was 16 years old, when I got my first job as an EFL (English as a Foreign Language) instructor. When I was 18, I started working at the school where I learned English: the binational center Casa Thomas Jefferson, in Brasília, Brazil, and that is where I currently work, but now not only as an EFL Teacher, but also as a Teacher Trainer and Course Supervisor.


I have a BA in TESOL (Teaching of English to Speakers of Other Languages) and American and British Literature from the University of Brasília, an MA in Applied Linguistics from the same university, and I am currently taking a PhD in Linguistics at UnB as well. For my master's I conducted an action classroom research which investigated the effects of explicit pronunciation teaching in the Brazilian EFL classroom and for my doctorate I am looking into the Critical Period Hypothesis and the acquisition of EFL Phonolgy by Brazilian learners.


Besides my interest in pronunciation teaching/learning and second language acquisition processes, I am an enthusiast about technology-enhanced language teaching/learning. I am part of the Webheads in Action and Learning With Computers networks, among others.
